Now Mother Dairy Under Scanner

A leading daily has reported that theFood safety and drug administration in Agra has found presence of detergent in milk samples of Mother Dairy which is owned by National Dairy Development Board Of India. This is just a few days after more than permissible levels of lead and monosodium glutamate in Nestle's Maggi which created a big controversy throughout the country.

FSDA's designated officer Ramnaresh Yadav said,"We have started the process of cancelling the license for mother dairy's shahpur plant at Bah tehsil for using detergent in milk.Besides a penalty of Rs 5 lakh will be imposed on the brand's Gajauraha plant for producing substandard quality of milk."

A company official, however, denied that the milk supplied in pouches was substandard."It is unfortunate that the samples collected at the village level are being wrongly attributed to Mother Dairy,"an official said.
