Former Indian Prime Minister Manmohan Singh moved to the Apex Court on Monday
seeking the summon against him quashed in a coal block Allocation case.
Singh was summoned by a special CBI Court in the matter asking him to appear before the court on April 8.Congress showed their support to the former PM by conducting a rally in his support.The rally had some big Congress leaders marching from their headquarters to
Singh’s house.
Manhoman Singh,who was also in charge of the coal ministry at the relevant time,has
sought an immediate stay on the summoning order.
Singh has claimed that the summoning order was not legal and against the principles of
criminal jurisprudence.
He also said in his petition that there was no instance of alleged criminality that could be
attributed to any of his acts as a coal minister.
The petition is likely to be mentioned for an urgent hearing before the court on Thursday
March 26.
